Hubbert's Theory Solar education at Hubbert's Peak is driven by the belief that practical, hands-on applications are an essential classroom tool. Students at our workshops will be part of an exciting learning environment that balances straightforward theory and concepts with an interactive component that demonstrates useful field techniques. They will be trained using the most up-to-date industry tools and hardware and learn critical decision-making skills that will be demanded of them on the job site. Over the past 18 months, Hubbert's Peak has provided more than 500 students with solar design and installation training. Educational sessions are held in an informal setting with a student:teacher ratio of around 1:20, with variance based on subject matter. Our introductory classes assume no prior knowledge of the students and are primarily lecture-based. Advanced classes cater toward professionals interested in training in a burgeoning discipline. Certain classes have prerequisites or require instructor approval. Local partnerships are a vital component to the educational model that Hubbert's Peak has established. While our classes are fun and informative to any solar-minded student, they are meant to be stepping stones to real career options. That is why we have partnered ourselves with industry organizations to extend learning from the classroom to the job site. Pictured above, Austin-based company Solar Community, has lent their help in developing curriculum and given Hubbert's Peak students opportunities to train on-site. Similarly, solar-powered sound and staging company, Sustainable Waves, has involved student labor to develop solar generators and other equipment that are used in their operations.
